Catching the breeze in S.F.

Golden GateSan Francisco is the versatile travel destination for anyone seeking a getaway for relaxation, romance, adventure and excitement.

The bay area also including Oakland and Berkley offers a wide array of engaging sites, settings and scenery for all to enjoy.

While strolling through the Golden Gate park or watching Bonds put one into McCovey Cove, visitors probably absorbing one of the many other facets of the bay area’s diverse culture.

The city of San Francisco has areas that represent every culture imaginable. From Chinatown to Little Italy, there is not a cultural food that is not featured at some restaurant in town.

Food is the easy part. Because of its diversity “The City” as it is called has nourishment for every traveler. Transportation is a beautiful thing in San Francisco as well.

The entire bay area is connected by the Bay Area Rapid Transit system. The BART is a system of trains that connect San Francisco, Oakland, Berkley and all of their surrounding principalities. Within the city, it is best to travel either by Municipal Transit, MUNI for short, or by cab.

Unlike Southern California, cabs in San Francisco actually do stop when hailed on the street.

Accommodations in San Francisco range from the one-star fire escape as a balcony to sharing a bathroom with the next room discount motel to the luxurious five-star penthouse hotel room.

The hotels and motels in and around downtown San Francisco offer the best arena for exploration. Stepping outside these locales puts you around Union Square, a busy shopping district, as well as both Market and Powell streets.

Powell Street is where rides on the famous electric trolley car system begin. Take the Powell trolley over the hill into North Beach to find a wealth of pubs, bars and clubs that will suit needs for a night out on the town.

Head towards Embarcadero to find Fisherman’s Wharf for clam chowder, which is renowned in San Francisco — bread bowl and all. Plus the wharf gives a spectacular view of the bay and Alcatraz.

For the history buff Alcatraz is fantastic, otherwise the view from the wharf is good enough.

San Francisco is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. A mix of classic and modern, the city takes any visitor in from the moment of arrival. A bone-chilling breeze is always waiting in the bay to make anyone think otherwise.
