Round Table spices
up USU
By Sarah Langford
On-line Forty-Niner
Within the next
two weeks, Round Table Pizza will be the latest addition to
the array of restaurants located in the University Student
Union at Cal State Long Beach.
Bobi McGann, who co-owns the restaurant with her husband John,
said they hope to open the store on Monday, Nov. 12 at 10
a.m. on the bottom floor of the Union.
"At this point we are just waiting for some final equipment
to get here, as well as for our computer system to get installed,"
McGann said. "If all goes well, we should be opening
in just a couple of weeks."
Initially, the store will be staffed by previously-trained
employees, but eventually the management will seek CSULB students
for employment, McGann said.
In the future McGann plans to provide a delivery service to
some on-campus locations, including businesses, clubs, organizations
and even the dormitories.
"Our main goal is to meet the needs of students Round
Table Pizza and others on campus," McGann said. "Our
prices are discounted from other Round Tables, and we will
change our hours of operation depending on what students want
and need. Basically, we will be really flexible at first,
and make adjustments as they are needed."
In general, student opinion of the new Round Table is positive.
Becky Pickett, a junior majoring in English, appreciates the
variety that the restaurant will bring to the Union.
"I like having a wide variety of restaurants to choose
from in the Union," Pickett said. "Hopefully, it
will have a cool atmosphere where people will want to hang
out."
Junior biology major Leslie Lewis agreed.
"I'm glad to see Round Table Pizza going in," Lewis
said. "The only other pizza place on campus is at the
Nugget, and that's on the upper end of campus. This will be
very convenient for everyone."
